Recreational marijuana became legal across Illinois in 2020, since then the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has expunged nearly 15,000 of those cases. These expungements have been automatic, requiring no action from people with eligible cannabis convictions. The Cook County State’s Attorney Cannabis Expungement Project is coming to an end.
If you are eligible for an expungement of your cannabis case under the provisions of the Illinois Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act, 410 ILCS 705/1 et seq., please visit our Resource page for pro bono legal service providers and please see links below.
If you have pending expungement case and would like to have the expungement notification regarding your case mailed to your current address, you must complete the Affidavit for Change of Address for Cannabis Expungement Cases. Affidavit for Change of Address for Cannabis Expungement Cases.
